The devastation from the landslide in Oso, WA – about an hour north of Seattle – is so massive it’s almost incomprehensible.
The debris field, and the possible location of victims, is a square mile in size.
As I write this, the official death toll stands at 24. Eight of those victims have been located but not yet recovered from the site.
The list of missing or unaccounted people has been as high as 176 names, though authorities believe there’s a fair amount of duplication in that list.
An update from The Everett Herald HERE.
This rescue video from the day of the disaster is amazing, inspiring, and terrifying.
More about this rescue and the boy, 4-year-old Jacob Spillers, HERE.
The NY Post reports: “Tragically, his sisters Kaylee Spillers, 5, Brooke Spillers, 2, and his 13-year-old step brother Jovon Mangual were still missing, along with his dad, Billy Spillers.
The boy’s mother, Jonielle Spillers, a nursing assistant, was at work when she learned of the catastrophe and later found Jacob by calling hospitals.”
Prayers for the Spillers family and all of the victims.
